Ivy Removal, Bay Trim and Speckled Laurel Tidy

Ivy can add quaint character to old walls and provide great habitat in areas where otherwise greenery might not be present but a lot of the time it’s a bit of a nuisance! Here the ivy was starting to damage paint, wrap around wires and creep over the roof.

The customer and their gardener had managed to sever the plant at its base but were unable to reach the higher parts of the climber to remove the unsightly dead vines. This is where I came in with my long ladders and a wallpaper scraper - it sure had got ahold of the brickwork.

Whilst there I also trimmed the Bay to allow better air flow across the wall reducing damp and imcreasing the amount of light entering the lower windows. The Speckled Laurel in the front hedge was getting a bit above where the customer wanted it too so it was brought down in height as best as possible to match the Privett whist retaining privacy.
